Yesterday I did a fairly good amount of coverage of Gerard at the Scream Awards. Today I bring you more! My homeslice C4 (Buzznet’s kindofadraag) was at the award show and promised me some goodies. She posted her own coverage of the show on Buzznet (see here: Gerard Way on Zombies and Hair Color at the 2008 Scream Awards). If her recap of meeting Gerard doesn’t make you “aww” at least once, then the world must be pretty dark for you. And, I totally agree, his boots are fantastic, though they really should’ve been black. His tie is too cute, though. Makes me want to wear ties despite the fact I can’t tie them. If you want more photos, check out the Buzznet photo gallery of Gerard Way on the red carpet at the 2008 Scream Awards.
Gerard also spoke briefly with the L.A. Times about why comic movies are doing so well.
The people that are making these movies are coming to it with a love of the comics and a respect for them, and I think that’s why the fans are so passionate about these movies,” Way said. “It comes down to the fact that for the first time, it’s fans who are making these movies, and that makes all the difference in the world. It’s not just capes that people like, it’s watching movies made with great ideas and imagination. That’s what makes them fly.
Anyways, here’s some good stuff for you. C4 promised me goodies and, boy, did she not fail. If you like her writing style, you should definitely check out her music blog, Fantastic Weapon. These photos are exclusive to Mikey Way Online and, if you’d like to repost them, I’d appreciate it if you would ask for permission and, when you repost them, please LINK to this website. Thanks

Metromix Detroit interviewed a band named Starling Electric. Why do we care?
Caleb Dillon, frontman for the Ann Arbor–based band Starling Electric, has a sense of humor that could best be described as bone-dry. No matter how hard we try to be sarcastic in our questions with him, he can’t be topped. When we asked, for example, if the band’s song “The Black Parade” has any connection to the My Chemical Romance album of the same name, he deadpans, “Yes. We’re best friends with them…we hang out all the time.” Read more: Metromix Detroit interviews Starling Electric
Yet another photo of Gerard Way’s pink/red hair. What’s funny is that Brandi and I were outside those doors (The Centennial Ballroom, for your information) about 1000000 times. Sigh. Thanks Euni!
Mikey and Alicia stopped by Leathermouth and Reggie and the Full Effect gig in New Jersey. Aww Credit My Chemical Freak
So Hypnagogic States comes out on Tuesday, September 16. Here’s a video of the song that Gerard and Julien-K are remixing. This is NOT the remix, rather The Cure’s official video, the original version of the song.
You kids and your photos. I don’t know what amuses me more: Gerard’s hair or how much the site’s daily hits have gone up. These past three days we’ve done 800+ hits per day. Crazy, I tell you. Here’s some more random photos I came across of the hair, and one’s even got Lindsey in it. If anybody has the original source for any of these photos I’m posting without a credit, let me know so I can credit the people in the photos or whoever was behind the camera. Two of these were from My Chemical Freak.
So thanks to Jess (and Tempest O’Mouthy), we now have a very, very nice picture of Gerard’s pink (or, actually, red) hair. It’s very “The Little Mermaid” red, I think. The lighting in the other photo made it look more pink, but it’s definitely red. Again, I’m very amused. And it’s definitely his hair.
Credits for the above photo go to Flickr user Tempest O’Mouthy. Random, but I do believe I recognize her from Dragoncon, but don’t hold me to it!
Sidenote, but if you post a comment and it doesn’t show up right away, don’t post again. I have them as moderated However, when you get one approved post, the rest will show up automatically! Or you can just bypass all of that and register on the site at the bottom of the sidebar
Alright, I swear, I’m going to get the new gallery running tonight. I hope.
Real or photoshop? This photo is Gerard at Dragoncon (*cough* that Johnnie and Brandi never ran into him). Thanks to Toria for the pic!
Edit on October 20, 2008
OKAY GUYS. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. GERARD’S HAIR IS NOW BLACK NOW. It was in fact real. He has said so himself. And it was PINK not RED. I’m so tired of the comments of people saying how ugly it is and being so disrespectful. An opinion is one thing, but being rude and disrespectful is something else. And, for the love of MCR, it hasn’t been pink for awhile.
DEBATE IS OVER.
