Gerard spills some more beans about the new record. No more concept albums, kids. Here’s the beef of what Gerard had to say to MTV:
“You know, we’ve made concepts for three albums now, so I think this one — at least from my standpoint — I want to go into it not thinking about a definite story. I said that during Parade, but I still think I had something to work out,” he said. “I think I had to get it out of my system, as far as writing concept records. I had to at least do one more before I stopped doing them. Obviously, they’ll always be cohesive though. The songs need to fit together, that’s what makes a great album.”
Way added that rather than focusing on a concept, he and the band are keeping it much simpler this time around — they’re just focusing on writing really killer, really loud rock songs.
“The one thing is we’ve never really captured that ‘live’ feeling. We’ve gone for sometimes more polish. We’ve obviously emulated bands like Queen in trying to get that classic, late-’70s glam sound, and we’ve gone for that at times, especially on the last record,” Way explained. “But then, when we’re playing this stuff live, it’s ultimately going to get more aggressive, so I think it’d be interesting to hear what the band sounds like recorded at least somewhat in those parameters of a live set.
“And that’s not to say it’ll all be distorted, who knows. I think you record it live viscerally, and the minute you put in the distortion, yeah, it’s going to sound ‘punk,’ ” he continued. “You take it off and I don’t know what it sounds like then. The song we did for ‘Watchmen’ [a cover of Bob Dylan's 'Desolation Row'] in a lot of ways is a really good test-run or experiment, at least sonically.”

LeATHERMOUTH’s XO got a 3.5/5 rating over at The Punk Site. Reviewer Bobby Gorman had lots of really good things to say about the record, and I’m thinking about checking out some of the other bands he mentioned since I’m not well-versed in older punk rock.
XO will do well simply because Leathermouth is the side project of My Chemical Romance's Frank Iero. Right there, that will garner the band a lot of fans. However, strict MCR fans may not be ready for an abrasive record like XO. Instead, in an odd turn for the worse, those who are ready for a record like this and would thoroughly enjoy it may actually pass on it because it is Frank Iero's side project.

Hey guys! Firstly, I want to wish you all a very Merry Christmas, and I hope you got everything you wanted! -prods Mikey Way action figure-
Anyways, I thought this was really important, and since Johnnie is on a well-deserved break, I figured I’d share.
Bob asked us on the official site to help the animal shelter he adopted his dogs from win 10 grand to go towards keeping the shelter alive. He says they’re in desperate need of money and is asking everybody to just click here and vote for them. They are currently in 3rd place, so get voting! (:

Alright, so this is kind of old, but it’s worth a read especially if you’re into guitars like I know a good few of you are.

Yeah, they really did. No worries, nobody was injured. According to eye witnesses, it was about 250 angry extras running out of 802 South Broadway in Los Angeles.
What was it?
Filming the Watchmen music video for their cover of Bob Dylan’s “Desolation Row”.
Who’s directing it?
The same dude that’s directing the movie.

Well, yeah, subject says it all. I forgot to add it in my other post, but oh well. Thanks to Madelyn for the heads up!
Don’t know where your local comic book store is? Check out Things From Another World. I will be heading across the street at some point to my local shop, A Comic Shop, to pick up my copy.

If anybody was on the official site earlier, you saw Ray post something congratulating the rest of the band on a good video shoot.
If you were like some of us, you probably said, “Video?? What??”
My Chemical Romance has shot the music video for the song they are contributing to the “Watchmen” movie.
MySpace’s geminijenifer was at the video shoot (lucky girl!) as well as a photo floating around on Buzznet (courtesy of xmyfrankieroromancex).
Thanks to ben_mcr and Euni (the official MWO Venezuelan Ambassador returns!).
Thanks to Brandy Way for this edit geminijenifer has another album up of the Watchmen video shoot here.
Anybody else got photos?
Oh, not so MCR related, but, um…
WHY ARE THEY TAKING DOWN STEVEN’S UNTITLED ROCK SHOW???? (thanks to Erika for the link)

Kathleen and I are going to separate the message board from the site. There are two reasons: a) there are a ton of people not participating in the forum (posts less than 0) and b) excessive amounts of spam that I would rather not reach the main site.
Here’s what’s happening.
All users with posts under 0 are being deleted from the message board. If you were previously registered and you have 1 or more posts, don’t worry. Your account and all forum messages are safe.
I’ve also gone through and deleted a few accounts that appeared to be spam. If you don’t want to look like spam, make your username something that doesn’t look like a keyboard mash (lsdjkfalskdjf, asdflkjsd, ddfieasdlkf, stuff like that), and put in a little info in your profile. That way we can distinguish you from spam.
Edit By Kathleen:: Quite technically, if you are troll of the forums, you are safe. I only deleted people who haven’t signed onto the forum or activated their accounts in the past 10 days.

About the Warner/YouTube thing that is going on, apparently record labels make money anytime someone views one of their music videos on YouTube. Well, now YouTube doesn’t want to pay them [considering sites like google doesn't] so Warner’s response was to take down all their videos [which includes MCR's].
As for fans just going and reuploading the videos. Yeah, they can do that, but as soon as YouTube finds those videos, the user will be forced to take the videos down. [Because legally, it's not their right to put them up in the first place. Sorry, but it's true.]
If it makes you feel any better, the two companies are trying to negotiate and find a suitable deal for both of them… but until then…
