Ray Obviously Wants Us To Take A Hint, FUSE, more FUSE

It’s 2am. Maybe this made me laugh because of it being so late, but! I don’t think Ray is very happy about the YouTube situation.

“Man how good is Youtube. I wish we were on Youtube…hint hint”

(:

Just thought I would share.
And to everyone who might not have FUSE: They usually put their shows online like this. We’ll link you. ;D

And more randomness, FUSE now has Top 20 Countdowns, each week about different things. MCR’s been on quite a few.

Gerard scored #10 on Best Frontman (loosing to 50 cent. ftw.)
Gerard also scored #14 on Musicians Who Do 300 More Things Than Play In A Band.
And Gerard and Mikey managed to score #4 in Siblings Who Rock. (The Top 3 ones were married- not related. No sence.)
Oh, yeah, and they beat the Jonas Brothers. Epic.
Night. (:

Alright, so this is kind of old, but it’s worth a read especially if you’re into guitars like I know a good few of you are.

New MCR Site

November 24th, 2008 | Kathleen | 1 Comment | Email Mikey Way Online!

Well, I don’t have any news of babiez or the sort… But I have something that is [in my opinion] better: Twitter!

Yes, the official My Chemical Romance site has been updated… it has a new layout… and better yet, it has Twitter. You can now see the guys talking to each other via Twitter, which makes for mega lullz.

I is excited. So much so that I is talking like lol cats/johnnie.

That is all.

This one is not safe for work or school. Do not watch if you do not like a half naked James Dewees rubbing all over Ray Toro. Yes, I’ve watched this repeatedly.

TBPID! Review, New Compilation Album

September 10th, 2008 | Haleigh | Comments Off | Email Mikey Way Online!

Well, Happy Birthday Mikehwai! Johnnie posted another one of her beautiful banners earlier, but I just had to say it for myself. :P
Now, onward!

Today in the news, we’ve got a review of ‘The Black Parade Is Dead! Right here.

‘Kerrang! The Album’, a compilation CD released [obviously] by Kerrang!, will include ‘Welcome to the Black Parade’ on it. There’s also  cuts from Green Day, Kill Hannah, Atreyu, Panic at the Disco, Enter Shikari [If you don't know them, check 'em out], and a TON of others.. See the full tracklisting here.

According to this awesome chick Sadie, Leathermouth has signed with Epitaph.

“Just thought you might wanna know that Frank told me LeATHERMOUTH signed to Epitaph Records. I met him at a LeATHERMOUTH show, and that’s what he said.”

Thanks for that, from mychemicalfreak.com

We’ve also got another awesome link from mychemicalfreak.com, it’s all that is and was My Chem!
Some rather interesting blogs from as far back as 2002, among other things. Totally cool, check it out here.

I’m still on a Ray kick, but as this is Mikeywayonline.net, I figured this would be a perfect balance. :P Enjoy.

Shredder of the Week, Top 50, Leathermouth Review

September 3rd, 2008 | Haleigh | Comments Off | Email Mikey Way Online!

Rockerz Paradise has named Ray Toro it’s ‘Shredder of the Week’.
The article is pretty much everything we know already, the guitar he plays, his influences, the awesome dog ‘Bauer’, but it’s a nice reminder of his amazingness!

Gigwise.com has a new ‘Top 50′ list, this time it’s ‘When Gigs Go Wrong: 50 Disastrous Live Shows’. They’ve listed My Chem as number 10, for Download Festival, June 2007.
Something good did come out of this article though, a rather entertaining quote of Gerard’s has resurfaced:
“This song is called ‘thanks for all the bottles, thanks for all the piss, thanks for all the golf balls, thanks for all the apples and thanks for all the sticky shit’”.

The Cure’s remix album is titled ‘Hypnagogic States’, if everyone remembers correctly, this album will include a remix by Gerard. Also joining him on the album is Jared Leto of 30 Seconds to Mars, Jade Pudget of AFI, and Fall Out Boy’s Pete Wentz and Patrick Stump. The album, 4:13 Dream, is due out sometime in October.

A few mentions of TUA and it’s upcoming sequel.
Geeky Librarian say that Gerard’s take on ’superhero comics (or is that dysfunctional family stories)’ is ‘easily the most enjoyable comic last year’.
Good Comics gives us a little tidbit about the next TUA series. [Out November 26].
There’s also this, a little summary of the upcoming series, plus a pretty cool photo, Sex Pistols style.

Oh hey, check out this awesome Umbrella Academy….umbrella. I’ve gotta get one those, even though it like, never rains in Arizona.

A review of the Nevada Leathermouth show on Friday has surfaced. It’s not very complimentary of them, apparently Frank ripped his glasses apart with his teeth…? Tbh, I say right on to that. However, the review does seem to end on a good, albeit painful note.

Just a little tidbit, Junk Online has a small article covering Gerard’s new hair, along with a coolzies timeline of pictures following his many hair colors in the past.

And as a nice little finisher…

My Chemical Romance to “take it slow” for new record + MCR side projects

August 13th, 2008 | Johnnie | Comments Off | Email Mikey Way Online!

Holy crap! I spent this morning putting together the update you see below this one and, goodness, something major comes out afterwards!

According to MTV, the guys from My Chemical Romance are out and about doing their own things: Mikey is doing his own comic, Gerard is penning something “top secret” for DC Comics (he was an intern there while he was a student at SVA in case you didn’t know), Ray is doing a Weezer tribute band (how effing awesome is that?!), we already know about Frank and Leathermouth, and Bob is in Chicago for some “unspecified reason” (perhaps because he lives there?).

Gerry (I assume is prounounced “Jerry” since the report is referring to Gerard; petname?) has also confirmed they will be “taking it slow” on the next record which he says will be a more stripped down record without the bells and whistles but not necessarily more punk. He said to expect it to be more of a social commentary but don’t expect a “boo hoo we got famous” record.

There’s more press on Desolation Row and other things, but it’s nothing we don’t already know so I’ll quit posting it.

The Umbrella Academy, Watchmen, Bauer, Eisner Speech

August 4th, 2008 | Johnnie | Comments Off | Email Mikey Way Online!

Yes, yes, more articles on The Umbrella Academy. However, if you don’t read any of these artcles, take this away with you. It’s a quote from Grant Morrison. I can definitely see why Gerard looks up to him so much.

“You gotta remember, in the entire history of the universe, you’re the only you that has ever existed and ever will exist. There’s nobody in existence who is you, and no one can ever see the world the way you see it and can tell the rest of us how it looks. And it might be so different and so beautiful that it changes everything.” — Grant Morrison

Now onto the rest of the articles….

After the catastrophic events of Apocalypse Suite, the Umbrella Academy celebrates victory in the ruins of their former home. One member’s bedridden and mutilated, following the brutal showdown with her siblings that saved the world, and another has lost her voice—a casualty of war—and along with it, all of her power. With another victory under their belts, and seemingly too much free time on their hands, what’s next for this sordid cast of misfit geniuses?

Way spoke more about his views of his own work and about creativity in general when one audience member asked if The Umbrella Academy was ever likely to cross over into the My Chemical Romance stage shows. Both Way (singer for the MCR) and editor Allie stated that they had tried to keep the band’s name out of most articles or write-ups having to do with the book, and that it was their policy in general to try to let the book stand on its own. Way added, though, that he was as proud of being in the band as he was of creating the comic, and that he was happy to answer questions about one when being interviewed about the other. “It all comes from the same source,” he said. He also mentioned that many of the concepts for The Umbrella Academy that had been left on the cutting room floor eventually made it into their 2006 album, The Black Parade (he specifically mentioned that the original concept of the villainous organization from The Umbrella Academy had been called “The Black Symphony” in the original pitch).

The jewel in the crown are Friday night’s prestigious Eisner Awards, the industry’s Oscars. This year’s surprise winner, was My Chemical Romance singer Gerard Way’s dysfunctional superhero saga The Umbrella Academy, picking up Best Limited Series for its first run – a sweet vindication after more than a few eyebrows were raised when he started the project with illustrator Gabriel Ba.

“A lot of people were probably thinking, ‘He’s not much of an underdog any more, he’s a rock star now so this is easy for him,’” says Gerard. “So I got to be an underdog all over again. I didn’t have it easy.”

Deified in his day job, Gerard used to be able to walk around these things pretty much invisible. Now, all that’s changed.

“At first I would just go to comic conventions and just walk around. Now I make that difficult for myself because I write comics. But it’s so good to have a book that was appreciated. Acceptance was optional, I wanted the work to be appreciated.”

Okay, this doesn’t actually have anything to do with The Umbrella Academy, but it was simply mentioned in this thing about another comic coming out (Tori Amos, anyone?) and I was just amused.

Musicians and a comic book artist working together isn’t such a strange notion these days. I know most of you are aware of My Chemical Romance member Gerald Way having explored the world of comic books with Umbrella Academy as well as singer Claudio from Coheed and Cambria. Now it looks like someone new is hitting the scene. — Star Clipper Blog

Now, this is effing awesome. My Chemical Romance will be the only contemporary artist featured in Watchmen with their cover of Bob Dylan’s Desolation Row. It will be played over the closing credits. If you want the lyrics, Kathleen has posted them in the lyrics section. You’ll quickly discover, as we did, how My Chemical Romance had to find a way to cut it from 12 minutes.

As we reported last week, when Zack Snyder went looking for bands for the “Watchmen” soundtrack, his compass landed squarely on My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way. The singer — who had already contacted the director inquiring about working together — is a lifelong comics fan, having interned at DC Comics and attended art school before starting one of the world’s most popular rock groups.

The band will be covering Bob Dylan’s classic “Desolation Row” over the closing credits, making themselves the only contemporary artists to contribute to the film. We caught up with Way at Comic-Con where he gave us the low-down on his cover, describing his take on the song, his love of the book and more.

This video was sent to Brandi from her reader Meagan. Remember the “Bauer” drama? Of course you do. Ray is, in fact, the father of a dog named Jack Bauer.

Brandi has also posted an audio recording of Gerard’s Eisner acceptance speech at Comic-Con and also has a transcription of it.

Edit: Frank’s guitar has been unveiled at the Rock Hall of Fame in a Contemporary Music exhibit. Other items include stuff from Paramore, Usher, Good Charlotte, and Phantom Planet. Thanks April!

Another edition of Johnnie’s Random Photos! Also, bare with me as I’m testing yet another new way of doing photos for the site. Brandi is teaching me some new tricks. :boogie:
