Thanks to indecisean for the following….
A lot of people heard last month that Mikey Way was working on a story for the DC Comics Halloween issue…
This weekend DC added the cover art and additional info to their site and it’s available for pre-order everywhere:
According to the DC catalog it looks like the book is going to arrive Wednesday October 22nd (23rd in the UK), run about 80 pages, and cost about $6 USD (cheaper if you check out the links I dug up below)…having been a fan of DC’s Halloween issues since I was all of seven years old or so I can tell you from experience — if you pick up one comic this year, it should be this one. (If you pick up two or three, be sure to get the finally-coming-back-into-print Watchmen hardcover or The Umbrella Academy: Dallas by Mikey’s brother, Gerard)
I did some digging and found pre-order links for those of you wanting to secure the Halloween issue with Mikey’s Batman story…
If you’ve got a local comic shop, do the right thing and spend your money there (just be sure to swing by this week and make sure they’ll save a copy of the issue for you)! If you don’t…well, hopefully these help:
* Those of you in the US can get it from Heavy Ink (or alternately from Things From Another World, Comics Infinity, or Collectors World Store)
* Those UK folks can find it at the awesome Forbidden Planet site…Written by Michael Way, Mark Verheiden, Mike Johnson, Brian Reed and others. Art by Trevor Hairsine, Duncan Rouleau and others. Cover by Gene Ha. The Horror! The Horror! Could this be the final Halloween for the DCU? Evil has won, and there are no treats! Witness tales of terror featuring Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, The Titans, El Diablo, Faust and others by past, present and future DC greats. UPC: 76194127777600111
Source (they even added it on the Comic Books Beta facebook for you fb’ers)
Thanks to My Chemical Freak for the following…
This may or may not be real, but here’s what appears to be Frank Iero’s college English essays from Rutgers University. It makes sense that it would be his, as this is the Web Archive, but there’s always the possibility that it’s not. Anyways, check this out and see for yourself: http://web.archive.org/web/20010508011830/pegasus.rutgers.edu/~sect12nj/my101.html
Clarification thanks to April…
To clarify something Haleigh posted awhile back…Haleigh mentioned the Twilight soundtrack featuring My Chemical Romance. Now, here’s where the clarification is needed. The “soundtrack” are the songs that the author listened to while writing, and Haleigh probably should’ve written “playlist” instead of “soundtrack” (I knew what she meant though!). So, for those of you who are curious, here is Stephenie’s playlist for Twilight with My Chemical Romance’s “I’m Not OKay (I Promise)” as #2, and here is the Twilight movie soundtrack without any mention of My Chemcial Romance, since they are NOT on the movie soundtrack.
Now, this is more just for a laugh, but apparently the mug in The Umbrella Academy that 00.05 drinks out of in issue #5 and that Things From Another World is selling will cause birth defects in California only. My condolences to those who live in California and drink out of these mugs.
There’s another big laugh for you guys. This guy Nick apparently thinks he saw My Chemical Romance perform five days ago, on October 1, 2008, at the Santa Monica Civic Center. First off, My Chemical Romance didn’t play any shows on that date. Then again, they haven’t done any shows as a band lately. That also tipped me off is that Frank doesn’t come on stage in a dress and dangly earrings on a regular basis. If he has, someone needs to send me pics. Same goes for Mikey Way. Nick assumed that cross-dressing must be a “new thing” with MCR. And it also looked like touring took a massive toll on Gerard. He also goes on to be really upset about how the band didn’t play any of their old songs from Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge and that it was a big “f*ck you” to all their fans. Nick, you may want to pay attention to that one commentor that gave you the link to the Santa Monica Civic Center schedule: you saw My Bloody Valentine, not My Chemical Romance. Before you go bashing My Chemical Romance, make sure you at least went to see the right band. Okay? I posted a response on his blog, which you can read here.
On a different note (good or bad, depending on how you look at it and your biases), here’s a bit of info taken from My Chemical Freak:
Apparently Matt Pelissier is back and Refugee Records is releasing his new music project, Revenir’s, debut record. He composed all the music and performed every instrument for each song of this 6-track album. It will feature several guest vocalists.
Check out Revenir’s myspace if you want more info!
