Dallas Preview, The Cure Remix, Leathermouth

September 9th, 2008 | Haleigh | 1 Comment | Email Mikey Way Online!

Not much news except that I got two weeks taken off my grounding! *w00tw00t*

K, so there’s this AWESOME preview for TUA: Dallas #1. Check it out here.

Quite a bit of articles on Mikey’s supposed foray into comic writing, however, not ONE new thing, the most reliable source we’ve got is from Kerrang.

The Umbrella Academy has been included in Captain Blue Hen Comic’s Top 100 Graphic Novels .

The Cure has scored FOUR singles on the top 20 of the Billboard Hot Singles Sales chart. This is off their remix album Hypnagogic States, which, as you all know, includes Gerard. And yes, the single he contributed to [Sleep When I'm Dead] is in that top 20!

Leathermouth’s official myspace has an update on their tour.

Tour Update 2
Well hello once again. So where do I start? I guess with our much needed day off. Its good to be home for a few hours. A day of healing, recuperating and relaxation. Trust me when I say, it was needed. This tour has been the most amazing time. The last few shows have just been insane. We can’t thank everyone enough for their support and kindness. All of you make these shows what they are. THANK YOU! We can’t say it enough. 5 more shows left, so hopefully we see some of you there.

xoxo
Eddie

And just because you guys have been so awesome in welcoming me…

I don’t know if this really matters, but if you’re a member of Buzznet, check out this article (Gerard Way Has PINK Hair?) and give it a Buzz. It’s a little plug for Mikey Way Online.

A bit of coverage on The Umbrella Academy and it’s upcoming sequel right here.

Mh, and then there’s….this picture….0.0 <3

Comics, Comics, Comics

It’s Friday! Hallelujah!
Not that it really matters for me, considering I’m grounded for a month :(
Ah well, just more time for me to post at MWO!

According to ‘The Gauntlet’, Mikey is going to be writing an eight page story, for one of DC Comic’s existing titles. However, we haven’t seen ANYTHING about this, anywhere, so for now I’m filing this under rumors.

Gabriel Ba, the artist of The Umbrella Academy, has been nominated for a Harvey! Good luck man!
A new review for TUA has surfaced, straight up.

Oh and, just because I was bored…

Email Problem

September 5th, 2008 | Johnnie | 2 Comments | Email Mikey Way Online!

I’ve noticed a bunch of legit emails in my spam box lately. Some of these include Valentina and My Iero Romance. I know you guys aren’t spam, but if you’ve sent me mail and I haven’t responded, it’s because it’s probably gone straight to my spambox for some reason. I’m almost afraid I’m going to have to delete my site email because of the spam I’m getting and I can’t afford to be losing site emails.

If you’ve emailed me at johnnie@ and haven’t heard back, try replacing “johnnie” with “mail” and I should get it since that one’s not spammed and is for general use. I guess this is the price for having a highly accessible email address.

I’m going to look into seeing if I can block spam from it somehow, so no guarantees. :( Sorry to those of you who have emailed me. I’m going to try and get back to you this weekend!

And a random photo as an apology to those of you whom this doesn’t affect :)

Hambone (yes, THAT Hambone!) has been posting tour diaries over at the Brine and Bastards MySpace. Brine and Bastards is his band (punk pirates, anyone?) and they’re pretty spiffy. Oh, and Hambone’s a pretty funny dude, too :)

Sorry for the lack of Mikey info and photos. I was hoping he’d be at Dragoncon, too, but I’ve only seen one report of him being out with Gerard at a restaurant. Perhaps he had another agenda, or nobody noticed him. Oh, well, it’s all said and done now I suppose. Here’s some more of Johnnie’s Random Photos.

Mh, and we don’t know who’s photo’s these are, so if they’re yours, let us know so we can credit you.

Gerard is one of MSNBC’s ’50 Rockers Who Should Direct Movies’ list.
Plus, You can VOTE!
Right now he’s second only to Trent Reznor, come on guy’s, let’s give him the MikeyWayOnline boost!

There’s a My Chem mention in this video, some college humor thing, pretty funny actually.
Be forewarned, strong language.

Oh and just a reminder, the official My Chemical Romance store has like, a bunch of OLD t-shirts, for only $9.99. I believe they’re running out too, so buy ‘em quick.

I’m not sure when, but Alice Cooper complimented My Chem in an issue of Kerrang!. It’s pretty sweeet.

When asked “How do you manage to attract new fans after more than 30 years?” He answered:
“You know, I think it’s just because of the strength of the songs that Alice Cooper has. I see kids nowadays that are more into classic rock than their own generation, and I think it’s because band’s nowadays don’t write those classics. There isn’t a new ‘Smoke On The Water,’ or even a new ‘School’s Out.’ The only band’s that have come close in my opinion are band’s like The White Stripe’s and My Chemical Romance.”

Alkaline Trio Defends My Chem

September 4th, 2008 | Haleigh | 2 Comments | Email Mikey Way Online!

Alkaline Trio was recently was recently interviewed by Chart Attack.com, in the interview, their tour for My Chem was brought up.

You guys opened for My Chemical Romance a few years back, and it’s in the U.K. right now that their music is under fire for supposedly provoking a fan to commit suicide. Do you have any comments about that?

It’s a terrible thing that happened, and the same thing happened with Judas Priest in the ’80s. They got blamed because a couple of kids made a suicide pact and shot themselves. People blaming music and art for someone’s demise is an awful thing, and I think if anything, My Chemical Romance kept that young lady alive because she loved that band and turned to their music in her darkest times. I think that people don’t kill themselves because of a band they like, they kill themselves because of something else. My Chem has dark lyrics and themes, but they’re also fun, and they have hope in their songs. They’re anthemic in celebrating the darkness. They’re saying that it’s OK, we’re all pretty fucked up, but we’re all here for each other. So I think it’s an awful thing that happened to that young lady, and I think it’s awful that My Chem is getting blamed for it because I’m sure it’s not easy for them.

Annddd, back to Biology X[. Jon says hi.
