Gerard Way, Frances Cobain, and Others Perform on “Evelyn Evelyn”

August 31st, 2010 | Johnnie | 0 Comments | Email Mikey Way Online!

I realize this is old news, but Brandi from My Chemical Freak and I were talking about this earlier and decided to give it a listen, and it’s quite the circus. Literally. It’s a project done by Amanda Palmer and Jason Webley from The Dresden Dolls about conjoined twins in a circus called “Evelyn Evelyn”. I gotta give ‘em props for getting Weird Al on the track (“My Space”). That’s epic!

Guest vocals (11): Kim and Zoe Boekbinder, Margaret Cho, Corn Mo, Chantal Claret, Frances Cobain, Neil Gaiman, Ethan and Ari Gold, Eugene Mirman, Franz Nicolay, Reverend Peyton, Tegan Quin, Sara Quin, Soko, Jimmy Urine, Kirsten Vangsness, Andrew W.K., Gerard Way, and ‘Weird Al’ Yankovic

Personally it’s too strange for my liking, but it has the possibility of growing on me over time. We’ll see.

The Midnight Curfew

Alright, first lets start off with what we know.
The Midnight Curfew is a new DVD coming out June 29th, 2010. It’s another documentary up until current times, apparently with tons more features added in.
From sources it seems it goes up to Bob leaving the band, so that’s covered in there too.
You can pre-order it from Amazon here.

Now, rumors.
MTV has a page up teling us that The Midnight Curfew is the new album name… and it’s also being released on a different label that Reprise, which MCR signed to in 2004.
You can view that page here and share your thoughts.

EDIT: AOL Music is also reporting it as an album instead of a DVD.

Frank’s Having Kids! + Studio Update

Yep. Frank and Jamia did the ugly and are expecting twins this summer.
And they have written enough for 2 1/2 albums.
Read it all here.

Gerard on the cover of SPIN Magazine

A bit of news while I wait for World of Warcraft to stop updating, Gerard is on the cover of Spin Magazine for April. I’m assuming from the titles it’s about bands meeting their idols? Who knows. Billie Joe is in it to. : D

Bob Bryar Parts from My Chemical Romance

This message was posted by Frank via MyChemicalRomance.com: Bob Bryar Parts from My Chemical Romance.

Recently it seems as though every time we write to you guys we have bad news, and we apologize for that, but we’ve learned in life you can’t have the sweet without the sour. As a band we have been very fortunate over the years that our sweet times have greatly outweighed the sour ones, and a great deal of that is owed to you, the fans. Which is why we wanted this news to come from us and not some bullshit gossip site.

As of 4 weeks ago, My Chemical Romance and Bob Bryar parted ways. This was a painful decision for all of us to make and was not taken lightly. We wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors and expect you all to do the same.

We also wanted to give you all a quick heads up on how the record is progressing. We have been writing some very powerful new songs so this week the four of us entered the studio once again, and what has been ending up on tape each night is some of the most exciting and honest work we have ever created.

This was posted on the official site by Frank, but it’s worth a mention here. Gerard and the boys, our hearts are with you.

Hello Friends,

I got some good news and I got some bad news….while in the studio recently, Gerard started having some problems with his voice. At first we weren’t too concerned about it and thought it would pass, as these things usually do, but the longer it went on the more worried we all got so he went to see the doctor. The good news is he’s getting the best treatment possible and is going to make a full recovery, trust me we couldn’t be more relieved. The bad news is it’s not gonna go away overnight and we have to do what we hate doing most, cancel shows.

When we started this band all we ever wanted to do was write songs that meant something to us and play them live for as many people as we possibly could, and now in our old age all we want is exactly the same thing… and thats why canceling shows kills us so much, playing for people is what we live for. Your off-time applause, your beautiful dirty faces, your raw energy, and your wretched little voices singing our lyrics back to us fuel our fire, you make us feel alive, and we love every single one of you for that.

So know that as excited as you guys were to see us, we were even more excited to see you. But in order to make sure that we can continue to create music and play it live for all of you for a long time to come we need to give G the time he needs to heal.

We are incredibly sorry for bumming anyone out by canceling, and we hope you find it in your hearts to understand. We promise we will be back in Australia to make it up to you guys/gals as soon as possible. We miss you.

Until we meet again, xofrank

Sundance Film Festival (Twitter), My Chem in “music in 2010 will electrify”, Random Photo

January 16th, 2010 | kmart | 2 Comments | Email Mikey Way Online!

Acoording to these articlesMy Chemical Romance, along with 30 Seconds to Mars, and various others will be playing at the Sundance Film Festival; Twitter is holding a conference at the Festival intended to “celebrate the uses and potential of Twitter in the entertainment and film industries.”  They will be playing at the Tweet House from the 22nd-24th.  “The “Tweet House” is a 3 day & 3 night event, hosted by The Parnassus Group & Relentless Media at The Yoga Shop near Main Street.” Anyone near there? Haha.

**None of the bands listed have mentioned anything about said shows, and have not been listed on official sites, making this information mildly fishy. But I suppose any Utah-ers may keep their hopes up!!

My Chemical Romance was number six in a Detroit News article, listing artists planning to release new music in 2010, stating “music in 2010 will electrify.” Regarding the boys, they said: “The New Jersey rock outfit’s fourth album is the first since it drove a nail through emo’s coffin with 2006′s grand, ambitious rock opera ‘The Black Parade…’” Just a little clip mentioning the new album, etc.

And….that’s all I could find. :D

Random photo of the day? Sure.

mikey

Couldn’t choose. haha.

MCR Official Twitter Update

January 15th, 2010 | brandyway | Comments Off | Email Mikey Way Online!

Well guys, it seems MCR is really getting active with Twitter, as they’re new off and about following YOU the fans. If you have a Twitter, the OFFICIAL MCR account is @MCROfficial . Mostly you just have to beg and grovel and plead when given the opportunity and they will follow you.

And, if you’re lucky like me, RT you and make you hate yourself for stupid spelling errors like ‘epix’.

Quick update.

The suprise came. Love the layout? (: Johnnie’s great.
